Ever stand up quickly and suddenly feel dizzy? Usually that’s not a terrible sign if it happens just once in a while. But, if you frequently feel dizzy when you stand up quickly, it means you’ve had a sudden drop in blood pressure, a phenomenon (called orthostatic hypotension) that is associated with high blood pressure and an increased risk of developing heart failure. According to the American Heart Association, this connection is particularly strong if you are 45 to 55 years old. Regardless of your age, if you get suddenly dizzy when you stand up quickly, go and have your blood pressure checked.
