Going Needle-Free

Good News for the Needle Phobic! According to Joel Schlessinger, MD, an Omaha, Neb-based dermatologist, a topical Botox (Revance) is set to begin phase 3 trials. But, he reports from the annual meeting of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), it’ll be a while until these trials get underway.

Before you’re too disappointed (we want what we want and we want it NOW!), there is a handy little device that I stumbled across on the AACS exhibit floor yesterday. It’s a friendly looking little hand-held device that’s said to take the “ouch” right out of those facial injections – be they Botox, Dysport or fillers. Meet Numblebee.

The Numblebee works by creating vibration and preventing pain signals from reaching the brain.

Goodbye dental blocks, topical anesthesia, and ice – hello magic wand!

I haven’t tried it myself (yet!), but with no risk and the promise of a painless needle? It’s now officially on my “to-do” list!
