Just Dance studio opening brought about a good time with good tunes. New You caught up with James Maslow who was at the event in support of the opening. Being a dancer himself, James was a huge supporter of the studio. While many use dance as not only a fun pastime but a workout as well, James tells us how he thinks dance can be a great workout. “I use to dance quite a bit, and just recently I played I Heart Radio in Vegas two weeks ago. I had a choreography to that and I forgot how much I missed dancing. I don’t need to lose weight but at the same time I like to eat burgers and burritos and drinking tequila. A lot of calories in that right?! So if you dance, even if it’s like 30 minutes a day, you can eat whatever you want, it’s awesome!” When not dancing, James also has health advice for a different part of the body. “I think that mental health is not at the forefront of the conversation when we talk about health and it should be. I just moved back to Venice from Hollywood and not that Hollywood is bad, it just wasn’t a healthy place for me to be living. Being on the beach, just being in a more quiet, homey environment – I can’t tell you how much happier I am, how much better I feel. I think everyone needs to find that. Of course diet and exercise is important, but your mental health, focusing on being in a place, a physical space that allows you to be healthy mentally is super important.”
