The biggest names in style, fashion, art and music come together to support a heartfelt cause. Ahead of the charity’s Tunnel of Love fashion and art fundraiser, the British Heart Foundation has launched an online auction. Celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Jenson Button, Nicky Clarke and Status Quo have donated luxury items and once-in-a-lifetime experiences to help the cause.
The money raised goes towards the charity’s Mending Broken Hearts appeal, which funds research into finding a cure for heart failure.
Across the pond in the U.S., cardiovascular disease remains the number on cause of death and that stat isn’t budging, claiming up to 2,200 people’s lives each day.
New You weighs in on matters of the heart with some advice from the experts, “Take a doctor’s sage advice: Eat well, move more, stress less, love more,” states Dr. Dean Ornish, M.D., who pioneerd the Lifestyle Medicine movement and President Bill Clinton’s right hand man.
“A whole-foods, plant based diet affects inflammation the same way without having to be on drugs the rest of your life,” Dr. Ornish continues. Simple lifestyle changes can turn out big results.
Simon Gillespie, Chief Executive of the British Heart Foundation, comments, ‘We’re absolutely delighted to have the support of the fashion, art and sports communities who have given so generously again this year. Every pound raised will play a crucial role in helping us fund new ground-breaking research in our mission to find a cure for heart failure.’
It’s a world wide effort from London to LA, to fight this disease in a big, fashionable way.
