The American Journal of Medical Quality recently published a study prooving Facebook “Likes” are an indicator of overall hospital quality and patient satisfaction. Gone are the days of reading hospital reviews, surveys and analyzing star ratings. Researchers compared the 30-day mortality rate and patron recommendations to the number of likes and found a positive association. Additionally, researchers noted that a one-percentage point decrease in the 30-day mortality coincided with 93 more likes. “Public health researchers and hospitals can use Facebook “Likes” as a proxy for hospital quality and patient satisfaction,” according to the study’s authors.
