After more than a decade leading engineering teams at Google and now Apple, Madiha Chan hit a moment of truth: she wanted her work to reflect her identity and values. That spark became JustB Cosmetics, her makeup brand startup creating multi-purpose, eco-friendly products designed for women with deeper skin tones, an audience the industry has long overlooked.
Her mission caught national attention in 2025 when she won the inaugural Entrepreneur of Impact (EOI) competition, powered by Colossal, and hosted by Shark Tank’s Daymond John.

Entrepreneur of Impact is one of Colossal’s signature purpose-driven online competitions; it brought together thousands of entrepreneurs nationwide, raising a remarkable $2.78 million for GENYOUth, a nonprofit working to ensure kids have access to nutrition and physical activity.
As 2025 champion, Madiha earned a $25,000 prize, a 1:1 mentoring session with Daymond, and a full-page feature in Forbesaka visibility that helped accelerate JustB’s growth. Flash forward to now, just six months later, and the company is on track for a 56% revenue boost!
When we sat down with Madiha, she reflected on the win that changed everything, her “Shark” mentorship, and why building JustB feels like her most meaningful work yet.
You earned 1:1 mentorship with Daymond John. What were your biggest takeaways?
Our time with Daymond John was deeply affirming on both a personal and strategic level. The idea that when beauty products don’t work for brown women, we’re often made to believe that we need to fix ourselves, rather than the industry fixing its products… reinforced that JustB isn’t just filling a gap in the market; we’re solving a critical and deeply personal problem. From a business perspective… his feedback was that the business has strong bones and a thoughtful foundation for scale.

How did the $25,000 prize contribute to JustB’s growth?
We invested the $25,000 prize into the most critical areas of the business, including expanding Pigment Glow, strengthening inventory, elevating our creative production, and supporting community-driven activations. As a result, we are on track to see a 56% increase in revenue this year. For a brand like ours… this level of growth is a meaningful milestone. It reflects capital efficiency, strong product-market fit, and the impact of pairing intentional funding with a data-driven and disciplined strategy.
How did the EOI competition impact you personally as a founder?
EOI was transformational for us on multiple levels. The combination of Daymond John’s guidance and the additional funds allowed us to accelerate key initiatives… On a personal level as a founder, EOI gave me breathing room, the space to step back and think more strategically about what comes next. It encouraged me to move beyond the day-to-day and focus on long-term innovation.
Have you expanded your product line since the win?
Yes. We expanded our Pigment Glow collection with three of our strongest-performing shades to date—Cool Bronze, Champagne, and Antique Gold—all finely milled, talc-free formulas tailored to the undertones of brown skin. These launches reaffirmed our philosophy of offering ‘freedom within foolproof boundaries,’ giving brown women products that are easy, intuitive, and high impact.
If you could offer one piece of advice to the next EOI winner, what would it be?
Entrepreneurship can be an isolating experience, but the Colossal Group truly becomes your cheerleaders. Lead with the truth of your story, sharpen your mission, and ask the critical questions that guide your decisions. Your clarity and authenticity will carry you further than anything else.
