More doctors should prescribe exercise as a route to health, just as they prescribe medications. This is particularly important for women 50 and older, says a study published in the journal Maturitas. Researchers found that doing 30 to 45 minutes of exercise “that leaves you hung and pung” keeps you mentally sharp and physically strong. Recent research also found that exercising at least three times a week helps you live up to four years longer—and have dewy, more youthful-looking skin.
