An honest, hardworking, advocate for the homeless, Derek Warburton (AKA Derek Fabulous) is truly a special person. On the first night of Pride month, NEW YOU attended the launch of the new Derek Fabulous PRIDE makeup collection in collaboration with Face Stockholm in Los Angeles, California.
In this speech, friends of Warburton, including Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, Cynthia Bailey and Orange Is the New Black star Taryn Manning congratulate his success and wish him the best. Warburton then goes on to thank the people in his life and opens about his past being homeless, which led him to now advocate for the homeless and to give back to his family and youth.
He talks about receiving the offer for starting his very first makeup line at NEW YOU’s Beauty Awards in Miami, Florida, to which he stated “This has never happened in my life. I was always not enough, and now I discovered I’m just right. I told them yes, but I don’t want any money. I need to give it back to my childhood.” Warburton is donating all proceeds from the collection to Glsen.org to help young LGBTQ+ students across the country so they don’t go through what he went through.
He then fabulously ends his speech:
“Express love to everyone around us because you never know who is suffering as we see on the news, and we need safety for children whether they are LGBTQ+ or not. Everyone deserves love, everyone deserves safety, and everyone deserves equality. It doesn’t matter if you’re a straight football playing guy or a black swimming trans girl, we love you period. Accept everyone, live your life, be yourself, and let all your colors show through, especially if you’re Derek fabulous.”
