Make Your Home Smell Like Christmas
Posted On Dec 22, 2016
As the magical day of Christmas soon approaches, we are all glamming up our living spaces with festive décor in preparation for this glorious holiday season. To some of us, this means going the extra mile by freshening up our homes with those toasty, warm scents that we all love. The ones that remind us of Christmas.
This will not only amaze your family during the holiday season, but Santa will be super pleased!
Here are a few suggestions to ramp up the holiday aroma in your home:
Who doesn’t love the smell of a Christmas tree? A fresh tree will do the trick (obvi), however if someone isn’t a fan of vacuuming up the pine needles, you may have to settle with the fake kind. Losing the fresh pine scent is one of the hardest things to get past with fake trees. But don’t fret, you can buy the fresh pine smell spray and voilà!
Aside from your striped Christmas tree in candy canes, there is another way to add that fresh minty smell in your home. Peppermint essential oil is perfect for spreading the fresh holiday scent at home and also comes with health benefits.
The oil itself, gives a cooling sensation and has a calming effect on the body, which can relieve sore muscles and headaches. It also has antimicrobial properties so it can help sanitize the air as well as freshen it (this is why mint or peppermint is used in toothpaste, it freshens your breath).
Try dabbing a few, two or three, drops of peppermint essential oil on a cotton ball and leave them in your closet, pantry or den.
If you don’t have the time to actually construct a gingerbread house, here’s an idea to fill the kitchen with warm gingerbread goodness. Try gingerbread cookie in a jar on Wayfair.com!
Glam up your home with some fresh cinnamon sticks to add a dose of your favorite holiday spice. They add a lovely scent and it looks amazing. Check out this DIY Vanilla candle wrapped in fresh cinnamon sticks:
Oh also, Scientists told us that regular consumption of cinnamon could potentially lower blood sugar, help digestion, ease arthritis, lower cholesterol and even ward off Alzheimer’s, so…
You can buy fresh cinnamon sticks from Cinnamon Vogue (lol, awesome title!)
*I would suggest the Cassia sticks instead of the Ceylon sticks. Cassia is more potent smelling while Ceylon is subtle.
Bath & Body Works actually has a candle that smells like winter. Incase you didn’t know, that is: Pine needles, icy mandarin and winter woods capture the magic of glittering icicles and sparkling snow. Son of a nut cracker! I want it.
If you are not a candle person, they also have the foam hand wash – which make great stocking stuffers!
