Find Your Inner Ariel with Mermaid Fitness
Posted On Jun 14, 2016
Ditch those dumbbells and yoga mats, the latest piece of workout equipment is a shimmery mermaid tail.
Mermaids have always provided major core goals, so it was only a matter of time before the fitness community got a hold of the aquatic creatures’ workout plans. San Diego’s Hotel del Coronado now allows guests and locals to frolic around in the pool Ariel-style and call it a workout.
This is what dreams are made of!
It’s basically water aerobics, but better. Exercises include swimming laps to get your heart rate up, stationary movements like squats and arm exercises using beach balls and pool noodles, and core strengthening performed on the side of the pool.

Veronica Rohan, a fitness instructor at the chic California hotel, developed the weekly high-intensity, full-body workout after the tails ($120-$150) became a popular item sold in the hotel’s gift shop.
Each weekly, Friday morning session is forty-five minutes and only twenty dollars, including the tail rental. That price is discounted to fifteen dollars for locals, and ten dollars for hotel guests. The first class is free with the purchase of a tail from Hotel del Coronado’s gift shop.
Rohan told Well and Good, “We’ll be offering the class all summer, and we’re really looking forward to guests and locals being able to experience it.”
