Whether you’re living your best days at your job or counting the hours from the moment you walk in, we all go through periods where we get into bad work funks.
This is what happens when all your days begin to feel entirely too long, your fatigue level is on an all-time high, and you’re just not in the mood to complete your daily tasks. Look, it happens, but luckily, there are some things you can do to ensure that your 9-5 doesn’t feel like that one chore your Mom used to have to beg you to do.
Bad news? Lack of motivation is something we all face, but the good news is, you have the power to re-design your day in a way that keeps you enthusiastic, hopeful, and eager to take on new challenges.
Rise & Exercise
Ensure a quick burst of energy by setting your alarm an extra 30 minutes earlier and getting in an early morning workout. You don’t have to go all out, but there are tons of at-home exercises that will get your heart rate going and keep you energized for the long day ahead.
You may not want to grab for donuts or Cheetos while you’re in between filing and lunch time. In order to keep your brain alert, snack on healthier options for a productive day where you actually got all your work done.
Take a break
It’s important to refuel and re-energize, especially after lunch when you may be feeling sleepy. Take a walk outside for some fresh air or even just jump up and do some quick stretches.
Play some tunes
Music will always put you in a good mood. A few motivational songs can go a long way. Pop in your headphones while working, and listen to some up-tempo songs to keep you going throughout the day. You’ll be surprised how quickly the time goes by once you get through the entire Rihanna album.
Grab lunch on the street
Instead of relying on Sunday’s leftovers, try going to your local supermarket or Chinese spot around the street to get lunch for the day. A change of scenery can be the best way to keep you inspired for the rest of the day.
Show your co-workers some love
Don’t be the person in the office who nobody even remembers works there. Spark up conversations with your co-workers and get to know them on a more personal level. You’ll never know who may share the same interests as you or be able to lend words of encouragement to you on the day you need it most.
Don’t sell yourself short
Getting too comfortable in any situation can never yield positive results. It’s vital to continue to push yourself daily at work in order to accomplish new goals. Set short-term and long-term goals for yourself and use them as a way to propel you to always go above and beyond your comfort zone.
