Start your mornings on a healthier note with greens for breakfast
There’s a new trend when it comes to breakfast that may seem a little strange, but it has tons of health benefits.
Salad for breakfast
Yes, you read correctly – salad for breakfast. Now how does one go constructing a salad specifically designed for the morning? Well Dr. Frank Lipman, the founder and director of Eleven-Eleven Wellness Center in New York City, shares a few tips on what exactly you need to fuel your mornings.
Start your salad off with some greens: spinach, arugula, or some leftover veggies from the night before make for a great base. You can even toss in a little apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to increase the body’s ability to absorb the greens.
The next layer of your breakfast salad can of course be an egg. A poached or sunny side up egg makes a great source of protein for your mornings.
You can even add some avocados, nuts, or pre-cooked beans to make sure you stay full for longer, while also packing in more protein.
