Is HCG the Real Deal?

A National Weight Loss Center Tests to See if HCG is the Real Deal

Weight-loss doctors from around the country have been reporting tremendous results from HCG, a hormone that is normally secreted by pregnant women. Also known as human chorionic gonadotropin, HCG works by releasing the energy from fat in the body while the patient is on a low calorie diet. Without the HCG, say the doctors who prescribe it, the human body would digest muscle, and leave you feeling tired and weak.

Enter Dr. Sasson Moulavi, MD, a bariatric physician who for the last decade has promoted a good diet as the key to weight loss through his Smart for Life weight loss centers (30 around the country). Four of Dr. Moulavi’s centers in Florida are currently testing HCG on about 80 people, with about a third of the patients acting as a control group.

“There is a clear trend that people using HCG are happier with the weight loss, find it easier to achieve the weight loss, and seem to be happier in terms of how they feel, their energy levels, their skin condition, etc.,” says Dr. Moulavi, who began his clinical trials in January to prove the concept.

Previous research has been less than conclusive, says Dr. Moulavi, for a simple reason: motivation. “A lot of scientists don’t understand that the people who took the (HCG in the earlier trials) didn’t pay for it. Here they pay it, and this commitment is key, to make them do the injections. When I give programs away for free, patients do not do well.”

The control group, which is using water instead of HCG, also paid for the hormone; presumably they will get a refund when the placebo fails them. Results are expected in the next month or two. We’ll keep you posted.
