Known for his transformative makeup artistry, Patrick Ta is redefining the beauty landscape with his eponymous line, Patrick Ta Beauty. What began as a desire to perfect the products he needed in his own kit has blossomed into a cult-favorite brand that’s all about enhancing natural beauty with a touch of glam. In this exclusive interview, Ta opens up to NEW YOU about his seamless transition from celebrity makeup artist to beauty mogul, the challenges of launching his own line, and the core values that keep his brand both aspirational and accessible. With a focus on artistry, inclusivity, and empowering confidence, Ta’s vision continues to shape the future of beauty.

Patrick, your name is synonymous with beauty. How did you initially transition from makeup artistry to creating your own beauty brand, and what was the moment you knew you were onto something bigger than just a product line?
For me, makeup has always been about transformation – not just in how someone looks, but in how they feel. As a makeup artist, I was constantly mixing, layering, and customizing formulas to get the exact finish I wanted. I found myself thinking, Why doesn’t this product exist? or I wish this formula worked differently on the skin. That’s what really pushed me to start Patrick Ta Beauty – I wanted to create the products I needed in my own kit. The transition from artistry to launching Patrick Ta Beauty felt like a natural evolution. I wanted to bring the techniques I used on my clients to everyone. By teaming up with my co-founders, Avo and Rima Minasyan, we were able to make this a reality.

I knew we had something special when I started seeing people—both artists and everyday makeup lovers – really get the products and the intention behind them. When I saw them layering the creams and powders together the way I designed them to be used, I knew this was bigger than just a product line. It was about teaching people my artistry and helping them feel their most confident self.
With Patrick Ta Beauty, you’ve cultivated a cult following. How do you approach building a brand that resonates so deeply with consumers?
From the start, I wanted Patrick Ta Beauty to feel like an extension of my artistry – aspirational yet approachable, professional yet effortless. I think what resonates most with our community is that every product we create is designed with a true purpose. Every product I create is something I use on my clients and genuinely believe in. For example, my Double-Take Cream & Powder Blush wasn’t just about developing a beautiful blush formula—it was about sharing the pro-level layering technique I use to achieve the most seamless, dimensional flush while making it effortless for anyone to recreate red carpet glam at home.

As a makeup artist, you’ve worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment. How do you balance creative freedom with the business side of things?
Balancing creativity with the business side of things has been a learning experience. As a makeup artist, my first instinct is always to focus on the artistry—creating beautiful looks, experimenting with textures, and pushing boundaries. But running a brand requires a completely different mindset. It’s about understanding what the customer needs, what will work on a mass level, and how to bring my vision to life in a way that’s both innovative and accessible.
That’s why having the right team is so important. Working alongside my co-founders, Avo and Rima, has been a game-changer. Their expertise allows me to stay focused on what I do best—creating, dreaming, and sharing my artistry with the world.
What were the most pivotal challenges you faced when launching your brand, and how did you overcome them?
I think one of the biggest challenges was making sure every formula I release is perfect. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to textures, finishes, and how products layer on the skin, and there were moments when I’ve had to push back launch dates because I refused to put out something that wasn’t exactly how I envisioned it.
There are also so many beauty brands out there, and we needed to make sure that Patrick Ta Beauty stood out in a meaningful way. I didn’t just want to put my name on a product—I wanted to create something that truly added value. That’s why every formula we develop is intentional and deeply rooted in artistry.
As an artist, my world was all about creativity, but running a brand is a whole different game. Surrounding myself with the right people—people who got my vision but also understood the logistics—was a game-changer.
Your products are known for enhancing natural beauty with a touch of glam. How do you define beauty in today’s landscape?
Beauty is confidence. It’s whatever makes you feel your best. I think we’ve moved beyond trends and into an era where people want makeup that enhances who they are, rather than masking it. That’s why I focus so much on skin. Whether it’s a luminous skin-loving foundation, a dewy blush, a sculpting bronzer, or the perfect glossy lip, I want every product I create to feel effortless and enhance the skin with a radiant, lit-from-within glow.
Being a beauty mogul, entrepreneur, and artist all at once requires an exceptional level of adaptability. How do you manage your day-to-day life, and what keeps you grounded amid such constant growth and change?
I’ve learned that balance is key. When I’m with my clients, I’m fully in my artist mode, focusing on creating and elevating their beauty. When I’m working on the brand, I shift into a different mindset—thinking about formulas, packaging, and how to bring my artistry to a wider audience.
What keeps me grounded is my love for beauty. I will always be a makeup artist first. That’s my passion, that’s what brought me here, and that’s what keeps me inspired.

How important is it for you to prioritize inclusivity within the beauty industry, and how do you ensure your products are accessible to everyone, regardless of skin tone or background?
Inclusivity is at the heart of everything I do. I want everyone to feel seen, represented, and confident that they’ll find a shade that complements their unique skin tone. When developing formulas—especially for complexion products—I meticulously test them across a diverse range of skin tones to ensure the undertones are precise, the pigment payoff is rich, and the finish enhances every complexion beautifully.
But inclusivity isn’t just about shade ranges—it’s also about accessibility and education. I want people of all backgrounds, whether professional artists or makeup beginners, to feel empowered using my products. That’s why I’m passionate about sharing tutorials and application techniques—so everyone can achieve that signature Patrick Ta glow with ease and confidence.
Looking ahead, what innovations or product launches can we expect from Patrick Ta Beauty? How do you anticipate shaping the future of beauty and what trends do you see emerging?
At Patrick Ta Beauty, we’re always thinking about what’s next—how we can continue to innovate, elevate artistry, and create products that make people feel their most confident. While I can’t reveal too much just yet, I can say that we’re constantly refining and expanding our lineup in ways that feel both fresh and true to our brand. Expect to see innovations that push the boundaries of texture, finish, and versatility—and of course, expect more glow!
From the glamorous red carpet to everyday beauty routines, you’ve empowered so many to embrace their confidence. What advice would you give aspiring beauty entrepreneurs who want to leave their mark on this ever-evolving industry?
Stay true to your artistry. Trends come and go, but if you have a unique perspective and a real passion for what you do, people will connect with it. Also, be patient. Building a brand takes time, and there will be challenges along the way. But if you focus on creating products that you genuinely love and believe in, success will follow. And most importantly—never stop evolving. The beauty industry moves fast, so always keep pushing yourself creatively.
