We asked the locals so you don’t have to. Here are some of the best places to eat in Florence, one of Italy’s most visited cities.

As you may know, Italy is this summer’s hottest travel destination. Among the country’s incredible cities, such as Rome, Milan, Venice, Puglia, and more, Florence reigns supreme as a must-see marvel. Rich in art, history, culture, and a delectable cuisine, this enchanting city should not be missed.

When venturing abroad, discovering the diverse dining options that your destination has to offer becomes an adventure in itself. Yet, the task of choosing the perfect spot can be daunting. That’s why we sought the expert advice of a local connoisseur to uncover the crème de la crème among Florence’s restaurants. NEW YOU contributor Katie Zino spoke with Gabriele Rorandelli, a distinguished designer and the visionary behind Zerow, who was born and raised in the captivating Italian city. During their conversation, Rorandelli unveiled his personal favorites along with general recommendations, ensuring an unparalleled dining experience for every visitor to Florence.

To begin, we have Buca dell’Orafo. The restaurant is nestled on Via dei Girolami 28R, just steps away from the iconic Ponte Vecchio. Established in 1915, Buca dell’Orafo serves a variety of authentic regional meat and pasta dishes, along with a vast selection of Tuscan wines. It is housed in a basement level venue, exuding a warm and inviting ambiance.

Next door lies Osteria delle Tre Panche, located at Vicolo Marzio 1, within the esteemed Hotel Hermitage. Renowned for their truffle specialties and refined approach to traditional Tuscan cuisine, this restaurant charms guests with its wooden accents and opportunity to indulge in rooftop terrace dining.

Rorandelli also shared his affection for Hostaria da Fulvio. Da Fulvio is a mere stone’s throw away from one of Florence’s most lively piazzas – Santo Spirito – where you will find an endless supply of fun, food, drinks, and locals. Adorned with enchanting string lights, flowers, and beautifully painted walls, da Fulvio stands tall among the best traditional Italian Osterias in town.

Venturing further, we find ourselves at Buca Mario, at Piazza degli Ottaviani 16R. This cult favorite establishment, on the northern side of the Ponte Vecchio and a short stroll from Piazza di Santa Maria Novella, is housed in a stunning 16th-century cellar. Passing down ancient culinary codes from generation to generation, Buca Mario has perfected the art of Florentine recipes, ensuring an authentic Tuscan experience that resonates in every dish.

Finally, we have Osteria del Pavone, situated on Via de Pavone, at 1R. Neighboring the picturesque Arno River and historic bridges, this modern haven offers an innovative and dynamic menu for which they have received much praise. Accompanied by an exceptional drink selection, the vibrant ambiance of this Restaurant Cocktail Bar sets the tone for an unforgettable night out in Florence.
