Revving for Excellence: The Gabriel Miami Hotel is the Perfect Stay in Miami

Formula 1 — the pinnacle of motorsport — never fails to ignite a sense of excitement and anticipation among fans worldwide. The combination of cutting-edge technology, high-speed action, and the world’s finest drivers battling it out on iconic circuits creates an electrifying atmosphere. From the roar of the engines to the spectacle of aerodynamic prowess, Formula 1 embodies the pursuit of excellence and the boundaries of human precision.

As the anticipation builds for the highly anticipated Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix 2023, the world turns its attention to the vibrant city of Miami, where the convergence of luxury, speed, and excitement creates an unparalleled experience. While the race itself takes center stage, it is often the hidden gems surrounding the event that truly elevate the entire experience. The Gabriel Miami, part of the Hilton Curio Collection, served as an opulent haven for Formula 1 enthusiasts.

Start your engines

While 2022 may have been the official inaugural year for The Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, Formula 1 visited Miami in 1959 when Sebring International Raceway hosted the first World Championship United States Grand Prix. The track was the scene of Bruce McLaren’s maiden F1 victory.

Just 20 minutes away from the Gabriel Miami, the Miami International Autodrome located at the Hard Rock Stadium has a circuit of 5.41 km in length with 19 corners, three straights, and three DRS zones. Drivers along the circuit can reach an estimated top speed of 320 km/h (198.8 mph).

With F1 joining the ranks of sports offered in Miami, this vibrant city is now a true heaven on earth for all sports enthusiasts. Apart from F1, Miami also hosts tennis and golf tournaments, and is home to several sports teams including Miami Dolphins, Miami Marlins, the Miami Heat, and even a hockey team — the Miami Panthers — so it’s no wonder F1 wanted to expand its US circuits to Miami.

Shifting into high gear

This year for the Miami Grand Prix, I got to stay at The Gabriel Miami, A Curio Collection Hotel. It is a beautifully modern, boutique hotel that occupies the first 15 floors of the Marquis Residences with 129 rooms. The Gabriel Miami’s bright and spacious rooms help make its location, tucked between the Atlantic Ocean and downtown Miami, feel like an urban oasis. The Gabriel Miami is surrounded by museums and features custom art inspired by the beautiful luxe city of Miami, but most importantly, the staff’s hospitality is consistently impeccable and never fails to make their guests feel like a million bucks!

Before getting started to attend the viewing party, some of us were able to spend a little time in Gabriel’s fully-equipped sauna. There was also a full gym and a cold plunge on site for anyone that didn’t want to skip a day.

While we were only there for the F1 spectacle, The Gabriel Miami is a fantastic option for anyone at any time of the year. The hotel is located between the Atlantic Ocean and downtown, making it easy to cross over the bridge to enjoy the famous and pristine Miami beaches, or stay inland and check out the glamorous nightlife, ideally situated just a few blocks from Miami’s hottest clubs. It’s also a great choice for families looking to explore everything this city has to offer. But best of all, the hotel’s staff are incredibly knowledgeable of their beautiful city and the best places to catch a delicious bite to eat — especially if you’re looking for some Instagram-worthy Cuban or Latin American cuisine.

Beyond the track

The Gabriel Miami was the perfect backdrop for a fun Formula 1 viewing party. The staff set up a fun experience on their rooftop pool area featuring delicious tequila and unique pool floats. They even organized their own race using the Fast Collection from the Float Factory, inspired by the cars in Formula 1.

The Float Factory’s goal is to bring everyone’s inner child with exciting floats that are not your standard donuts. The Formula 1 race and the Fast Floats brought out everyone’s inner child and provided a carefree addition to all the fun we were all having.

During the race — both the one in the pool and the one on-screen — We had a lovely tequila tasting including Eleven20’s blanco, añejo, and reposado tequila, hosted by knowledgeable representatives who provided the tequila’s history and paired it with signature cocktail drinks. Eleven20 Tequila is an award-winning tequila crafted with traditional distilling techniques, whose commitment to quality makes their spirits the perfect partner for The Gabriel Miami. We also had special tacos made specifically for the occasion by Chef Jason Antolak which was the “sherry” on top. Afterward, we were able to relax after witnessing the close race in the hotel’s hot tub. Drinking tequila amongst the Miami skyline and views of pristine blue water was a perfect way to enjoy the excitement surrounding the F1 races.

In the heart of Miami, a new chapter in Formula 1 history is being written. The Miami Grand Prix burst onto the scene with its vibrant atmosphere, adrenaline-fueled racing, and the fusion of luxury and speed.

As the sun sets over the city’s iconic skyline, the roar of the engines and the cheers of the crowd create an unforgettable symphony of excitement and passion. The Miami Grand Prix has quickly established itself as a must-attend event, capturing the hearts of fans and leaving a lasting impression on all who experience it.

Mark your calendars for next year’s F1 Miami Grand Prix and stay at The Gabriel Miami — this is where dreams come alive and legends are made.
