Create a plan. Having a sensible, realistic plan will put you in gear towards breaking bad habits.
Incorporate barriers. Avoid the people, places, or situations that will trigger the habit.
Be patient. Recognizing that breaking a habit can sometimes be a long process will help you to stay motivated.
Substitute with positive behavior. Make a conscious effort to replace bad habits with something positive.
Include others. Share your goals with your colleagues, family, and friends. This will provide further accountability.
