Want Wine With That Makeup?

Among the newest ingredients to hit the makeup and skin care industry is Resveratrol. You remember Resveratrol, the chemical in the skin of grapes and in red wine that’s been shown to not only extend lifespan, but to also keep the user more fit and trim than the non-user. This was certainly the case with the lab rats they tested, and seems to be one of the underlying reasons why the so-called Mediterranean diet is so effective. The underlying cause? Reserveratrol does two things: First, it mimics caloric restriction, one of the few proven methods to extend lifespan. Secondly, it activates sirtuin, an anti-oxidant enzyme thought to reduce aging through the repair and maintenance of bodily tissue. So why not use it in makeup? No reason, says cosmetics manufacturer Sukí, who makes a Facial Lift Ultimate Firming Cream with resveratrol along with green tea extract. Bite Beauty is also in the act with a line of lipsticks and rouge that contains resveratrol, which they claim fights off those pesky wrinkle-inducing free radicals. Now we can’t wait for the red wine wrap, coming any minute to a spa near you.
